Building Department

The Building Department receives and processes applications for building alterations and renovations, new buildings, pools, signs, entrances and septic systems for residential, commercial, industrial and institutional building. Building permit regulations and fees are set out in By-law No. 2005-51.

When do I need a Building Permit?

  •  New Building (residential, commercial, industrial and institutional)
  •  Building alterations and renovations (almost always, including decks)
  •  Pools (deeper than 24 inches)
  •  Fences (only when fencing an existing or new pool)
  •  Signs (all signs require a permit)
  •  Entrances (all new entrances to be constructed onto a municipal roadway require a permit)
  •  Septic Systems (new and modified)

Any questions regarding the requirement for a building permit will gladly be fielded by one of our building personnel.

Building permit applications are available at the Municipal Offices, and most can be found on this web site.
